About FRC

Ready is a practice, not a purchase.

Preparedness is a set of skills you keep sharp, a kit you actually carry and people you can count on. We don’t prepare for the end of the world. We prepare for Tuesday.

01 —What FRC stands for

Field. Ready. Collective.

  • Field

Real conditions. Skills and gear that are used outdoors, on the road and on the job, not just talked about.

  • Ready

A practice, not a purchase. Readiness is skills you keep sharp, a kit you actually carry and people you can count on.

  • Collective

Nobody knows everything. People bring what they’ve learned, and FRC turns it into guides anyone can use.

02 —Why it exists

Make ordinary people genuinely capable.

Most emergencies are cold, dark and boring. A flat tire at the end of a forestry road. A storm that closes the highway. Three days without power. The people who handle them well usually aren’t experts. They just practised first and kept a few sensible things in the truck.

Much of the preparedness world sells the worst case: fear, costume and gear you’ll never use. FRC is for people who want to be more capable and prepared for the situations that are likely, without the drama.

We’re building practical guides, checklists and, in time, training and a community, all written in plain language and checked against current, credible sources.

03 —What we prepare for

Realistic situations.

The likely days, not the movie plot.

  • Vehicle breakdowns
  • Winter emergencies
  • Power outages
  • Severe weather
  • Wildfires
  • Communications failures
  • Evacuations
  • Remote travel
  • Outdoor emergencies
  • Extended disruptions

04 —How we work

Six values.

  1. 01

    Practice over theory

If it hasn’t been done in the field, it’s still a theory. We test before we teach.

  2. 02

    Likely over extreme

We prepare for what actually happens: weather, breakdowns, outages, injuries.

  3. 03

    Skills before gear

Equipment matters, but only in the hands of someone who knows how to use it.

  4. 04

    Readiness is calm

Good preparation lowers panic. Nothing we publish should raise it.

  5. 05

    Share what works

Knowledge is more useful passed on. We credit sources and correct mistakes.

  6. 06

    Look after each other

The most resilient kit is a neighbourhood that knows each other.

The FRC promise

Done in the field, explained plainly, safe to follow.

Any safety or first-aid guidance we publish will be checked against a current, credible source and carry a reviewed date. No fear-based marketing, no fake urgency.
